Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

  • A bull elk in his prime, on a ridge in the Rocky Mountains inside RMNP.
  • Taken in the Colorado Rockies at about 10,000'.
  • Just before dusk, a magnificent bull elk waded into the lake. There was a cow with him, but all cameras were on the male.
  • Big Horn Sheep have been difficult for me to spot in Rocky Mountain National Park. Luckily, there were three very close to the main park road for a few minutes last September. The weathered horns on this male indicate he has been in some battles.
